It's it just me, or has Media Watch lost its bite?
Last night's edition focused on The West Australian's reporting of a paedophiles scare at Princess Margaret Hospital. The story was ok, I guess. But it's far from being a new plot, ie. dodgy newspaper journalist beats up a story, everyone cries foul, and journalist/newspaper editors refuse to apologise. Everyone duly notes that they should stop reading newspaper in question and moves on. Next.
The trouble for talented but mild-mannered Liz Jackson is that she's stepped into the angst-ridden, narky shoes of Media Watch's previous host David Marr. Regardless of what you thought of Marr, he brought an entertaining edge to the show. He also brought us the Laws scandal. We liked that plot, and we want more.
I guess I'll keep watching because its scheduled before my favourite show, Enough Rope. But here's hoping Jackson rediscovers her bite. Media Watch is no place for kind souls.
