We're all getting quite excited about the impending arrival of Mr Gates. Computerworld posted this story today. Other non-IDG publications have also covered the story over recent days, but I haven't got time to go find the links.
CW's Sandra Rossi writes:
Selected media get to participate in the tech briefing before the press conference but these invites are strictly limited, non-transferable and each participant is allowed only one question, making it a carefully managed and staged event for all concerned.
Too right. I was fortunate to get an invite, and won't miss the opportunity. Having said that, I get the feeling we media types will need to make a significant effort to get in that one magic question. Aside from the security fracas, I'm certain the politics of this event will overshadow any meaningful technology angles.
Via Frank Arrigo who linked to the CW story.
UPDATE: Julian Bajkowski at Computerworld offers this very spirited opinion of the whole Gates/Liberal vs Labour issue. Dig in for a nice insight into the mysterious complexities of Australian politics.
